What is the Gospel Message?
The Gospel of Jesus Christ stands as the cornerstone of Christianity, encapsulating the profound message of God’s love, grace, and redemption for humanity. Rooted in the life, teachings, death, and resurrection of Jesus, the Gospel offers the path to salvation and eternal life. At its core, the Gospel is the good news of God’s plan to reconcile fallen humanity to Himself through the sacrificial death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. This message encompasses several key aspects:
1. Human Sin and Separation from God
The Gospel begins with acknowledging the universal human condition of sin and separation from God. Romans 3:23 states, “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” Sin ruptures our relationship with God, creating a chasm that humanity cannot bridge on its own.
2. God’s Love and Grace
The Gospel reveals the immense love of God for His creation. John 3:16 affirms, “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” God’s love is not contingent on our goodness; it is a gift freely given.
3. Jesus’ Sacrificial Death
Central to the Gospel is the redemptive work of Jesus on the cross. Romans 5:8 emphasizes, “But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” Jesus, the sinless Son of God, willingly bore our sins, taking upon Himself the punishment we deserved.
4. Resurrection and victory over Death
The Gospel triumphantly proclaims Jesus’ resurrection from the dead, defeating sin and death. 1 Corinthians 15:17 declares, “And if Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile; you are still in your sins.” Jesus’ resurrection signifies His victory and provides believers with the hope of eternal life.
5. New Life and Transformation
Through the Gospel, believers are granted a new identity and a transformed life. 2 Corinthians 5:17 proclaims, “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!” The Holy Spirit empowers believers to live in alignment with God’s purposes.
Why we Should Share the Gospel?
As believers in the Gospel of Jesus Christ, we are entrusted with a profound responsibility, one that carries with it the potential to change lives, heal hearts, and offer eternal hope. Sharing the Gospel is not a duty; it’s an incredible privilege that aligns our lives with God’s divine purpose.
Obedience to Jesus

Our Savior, Jesus Christ, left us with a clear directive before ascending into Heaven. “Go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you” (Matthew 28:19-20). By sharing the gospel, we obey Jesus’ command and participate in His mission of salvation.
Love For Others

We should share the gospel because we believe it is the best news in the world. We desire for others to experience the love, forgiveness, and eternal life that comes from accepting Jesus Christ as our personal Savior. Sharing the Gospel is an act of love that seeks the well-being of others, both in this life and the next.
Ephesians 5:2 and walk in the way of love, just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God. (NIV)
Salvation

We share the gospel because we believe this is the only way to have eternal life in Heaven. We believe Jesus is the only way to be reconciled to God and to receive eternal life. By sharing the gospel, we are offering others the opportunity to receive salvation and to experience the joy and peace that comes from knowing God.
Acts 4:12 “There is salvation in no one else! God has given no other name under heaven by which we must be saved.” (NIV)
Compassion for the Lost

We share the gospel because we have compassion for those who are lost and separated from God. We want people to know Jesus and to experience the transformation that comes from a relationship with him. By sharing the gospel, we are reaching out to those who are hurting and offering them hope and healing.
Matthew 9:36-38 36 When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. 37 Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. 38 Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.” (NIV)
Offer Hope and Purpose

In a world often plagued by hopelessness and purposelessness, the Gospel provides a beacon of hope. It reveals the purpose for which we were created, inviting others to experience the transformative journey of personal faith in our Lord Jesus.
Titus 1:2 In the hope of eternal life, which God, who does not lie, promised before the beginning of time, (NIV)
Glorifying God

Finally, we share the gospel to glorify God. We believe that God is worthy of all honor, praise, and worship, and that sharing the gospel is one way to bring glory to his name. By sharing the gospel, we are proclaiming the greatness of God and inviting others to accept His free gift of spending eternity in Heaven.
I Peter 2:12 Be careful to live properly among your unbelieving neighbors. Then even if they accuse you of doing wrong, they will see your honorable behavior, and they will give honor to
God when he judges the world.
HOW TO SHARE YOUR STORY USING THE GOSPEL MESSAGE
One of the most compelling ways to share the Gospel is to tell your own personal story of how you came to Christ. An easy format to follow is to write a summary of life before Christ, how you came to Christ, how it has impacted your life while incorporating the Gospel message of salvation and relevant scripture. It is your story that no one can refute.
MAKE IT SHORT AND PERSONAL
Don’t preach. Three or four minutes should be enough time to deal with the essential facts.
KEEP CHRIST CENTRAL
Highlight what Christ has done for you. You can share a simple statement about why you chose to follow Jesus and share a bible verse that has special meaning to you.
BEFORE AND AFTER
You can share your “before” and “after” story – what your life was like before you knew Jesus and what your life your life is like now. Simple and powerful.
INCORPORATE SCRIPTURE INTO YOUR PERSONAL STORY
While your story is impactful and irrefutable, it is the transformative power of God’s word that brings others to Christ. “For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.” Hebrews 4:12
Be Specific
Include events, genuine feelings, and personal insights. Make your testimony tangible and relevant so others can relate to it.
BE HONEST
Don’t exaggerate or dramatize your story. The simple, straightforward truth of what God has done in your life can be used by the Holy Spirit needs to convict others and convince them of God’s love and grace.

When to Share the Gospel AND WITH WHOM
As Christians we are expected to share the Gospel with people we meet in everyday life. And why wouldn’t we. The opportunity for eternal life in heaven is the greatest gift you can ever give someone.
Be aware of those you meet. Look for opportunities to truly listen to people’s struggles and challenges. Offer words of encouragement, and when appropriate share your own story of how your relationship with Jesus provides comfort even in the midst of challenging times. And remember, your mission is not to convert people to Christianity, that is up to the Holy Spirit working through you and within them.
