Prayer from the Wilderness (for my Whole Family and I)
Father,
We are in the wilderness: not by accident, but by Your hand. We didn’t walk into this desert alone; You led us here so we could finally see clearly. And now we see, Lord. We see that what we called “family” was only held together by our effort. We see how short life is. How fleeting. How fragile.
You, God, have all the time in the world: but we are just dust, just a breath.
Have compassion on us.
Bend low to hear our cries and remember that we are weary. Our hearts are soft. Our eyes are open. Our hands are raised.
We don’t want to go back to Egypt,
But we also don’t want to die in this wilderness. So Father, be our water. Be our manna. Be our map when it feels like we’re walking in circles. Be our shield when the nights get long and the grief creeps in.
And be our fire: go ahead of us, light up the darkness.
We trust You even here.
Not because it’s easy: but because it’s You.
Bring our family through, God. As one unit. As one tribe. Restore what was stolen. Redeem what was wasted. Let this not be delay, but holy preparation.
We say yes to the process. But we cry out for Your mercy in the middle of it.
You are the timeless One,
But we feel time pressing in on us.
So teach us to number our days, that we may gain wisdom.
Let our lives not be wasted. Let our children see Your glory in the desert.
In Jesus’ Name,
Amen. Hallelujah!!!
