When most people think of Easter, they picture eggs, family gatherings, and springtime. Easter is so much more than the day the Easter bunny comes; it’s the very heart of the Christian faith.
Easter is about what happened in Luke 24: the moment everything changed. After Jesus was crucified and buried, His followers were grieving and confused. They thought Jesus was going to save them from Rome and oppression. However, on the third day, they discovered the tomb was empty. Jesus had risen from the dead, just as He said He would and what the Old Testament prophets had said would happen.
This wasn’t just a miracle. It was the fulfillment of a plan God had been unfolding from the very beginning.
Throughout the Old Testament, we see glimpses of what was coming, a Savior who would take the punishment for sin and restore our relationship with God. From the sacrificial system to prophetic promises, the Bible points forward to Jesus. Then, in His life and ministry, Jesus made it clear: He came to seek and save the lost.
Easter is the moment that proves it all.
Jesus didn’t just die. He conquered death, and that matters deeply for us today.
It means that sin doesn’t have the final word. It means that forgiveness is real. It means that eternal life isn’t just a hope; it’s a promise. As we talk about in our focus on salvation through Jesus Christ and grace and forgiveness, Easter reminds us that we could never save ourselves, but Jesus did for us what we could not do on our own.
This is why Easter is the celebration for Christians. Christmas tells us that Jesus came into the world, but Easter tells us why. He came to rescue us, to restore us, and to bring us back into a relationship with God.
And that’s really what Easter is about: relationship.
Not religion. Not rules. A real, living relationship with Jesus.
The resurrection invites each of us to respond personally. It asks a simple but life-changing question: Do you believe this is true, and what does it mean for your life?
Because if Jesus truly rose from the dead, then He is who He says He is. Following Him isn’t just a tradition. It’s a transformation.
This Easter, don’t just celebrate the story. Take a moment to consider what it means for you. Jesus is alive, and He offers forgiveness, hope, and a new life to anyone who comes to Him.That’s the real meaning of Easter, and it’s an invitation that’s still open today. If you want to learn more about what it means to have a relationship with Jesus, we encourage you to check out our Ready page. We also encourage you to attend a local church service this Easter.
