It’s a question many people quietly carry: “Is it too late for me?”
Maybe you’ve been away from church for years. Maybe you feel like you’ve made too many mistakes, gone too far, or drifted too long. It’s easy to believe the lie that you have to somehow “fix yourself” before coming back to God.
However, the truth is simple: you are never too far from God’s grace.
Jesus tells a powerful story in Luke 15 about a son who walked away from his father. He took everything he was given and wasted it, making choices he couldn’t undo. Eventually, he found himself broken, ashamed, and convinced he no longer deserved to be called a son.
So he decided to go home, but humbly as a servant.
What happened next changed everything.
While he was still far off, his father saw him, ran to him, embraced him, and welcomed him home with joy. No hesitation. No rejection. No “prove yourself first”.
That’s the heart of God.
This story, which is often called the Prodigal Son, isn’t just about someone else. It’s about all of us. It shows that no matter how far we’ve gone, God is not standing at a distance waiting to judge us. He’s watching, ready to welcome us back the moment we turn toward Him.
You don’t have to be “good enough” to come back to God. You just have to come.
The idea that we must earn our way back is something we often place on ourselves. But as we learn about grace and forgiveness and salvation through Jesus Christ, forgiveness isn’t something we achieve; it’s something we receive.
God’s love for you hasn’t changed. Not because of what you’ve done right or wrong, but because of who He is.
And through Jesus, that love was made clear. He came to restore what was broken, to forgive what felt unforgivable, and to bring us back into a relationship with God.
So if you’re wondering whether it’s too late, the answer is no.
It’s not too late to come back.
It’s not too late to be forgiven.
It’s not too late to start again.
In fact, if you’re asking the question at all, it may be that God is already drawing you back.
You don’t need perfect words or a perfect past. You just need an honest heart willing to turn toward Him.
And when you do, you won’t find a closed door, you’ll find open arms.
Because you are deeply loved, fully seen, and never beyond the reach of God’s grace.
