For many of us, December brings lights, laughter, and fun times with loved ones, but for others, it can feel chaotic, running from one event to the next. Maybe your schedule is packed, or maybe the loss of someone you love makes this season feel more like sorrow than celebration. Or, maybe you just feel anxious and overwhelmed, and don’t know how to slow down.

If you’ve ever wondered, “Where can I find peace in all of this?”, you’re not alone.

“Peace on Earth” Isn’t Just a Phrase

When the angels appeared to the shepherds the night Jesus was born, they said, “Glory to God in the highest heaven, and on earth peace to those on whom his favor rests” (Luke 2:14). That wasn’t just a nice thought they had. They were making a powerful announcement: real peace had come into the world through the birth of Jesus Christ.

This peace doesn’t mean the absence of conflict or a quiet night. It’s a deep calm and reassurance in your heart, even when everything around you feels uncertain. It’s what the psalmist calls “Shalom”. This stillness inside of you even when the world seems chaotic around you.

Jesus Offers Peace to You

In John 14:27, Jesus said, “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.”

Jesus wasn’t offering peace for perfect circumstances. He knew life would be full of stress, grief, and lots of unknowns. Yet, He promised that through Him, we can have peace that goes beyond understanding (Philippians 4:7).

You don’t have to have everything figured out. You don’t need to hide your sadness or pretend everything is okay. Jesus can and will meet you where you are, and He brings peace even in the middle of the storm.

Finding Peace in Practical Ways

If you’re feeling overwhelmed this season, here are a few ways you can begin to receive Christ’s peace:

  • Make room to be still. Even five minutes in quiet prayer or listening to calming music can help you breathe and focus your heart on God.
  • Talk to Jesus honestly. Tell Him how you feel and what you are struggling with. He listens, and He cares.
  • Read God’s promises. Verses like Isaiah 26:3 say, “You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you.” God’s truth always steadies our minds to focus on Him.
  • Say no when needed. You don’t have to do everything, even when you can. God isn’t asking you to run yourself ragged; He’s inviting you to rest in Him.
  • Reach out. Don’t isolate yourself. Whether you talk to a friend, a pastor, or join a local church gathering, peace is often found in community with others.

You’re Not Alone

Whatever this season looks like for you, we want you to know this: Jesus came into a world full of chaos to bring peace. Not just peace in the world, but peace to your heart.

If you’re longing for that peace, you’re not far from it. Jesus is near, and He’s ready to carry the weight you’ve been holding. You can learn more about how to walk with Him on our Ready page, or visit a local church and get connected to a community of believers.
